NEPLAN Interface for Smallworld GIS

The NEPLAN interface from Mettenmeier GmbH manages the data exchange between Smallworld GIS and the NEPLAN network calculation program and is the exclusive, world-wide recommendation by the manufacturer ABB.

In the scope of a development and marketing agreement with Mettenmeier, ABB is making available a standard interface which is optimised for both NEPLAN as well as the Smallworld Network Resource Managers for coupling the NEPLAN network calculation program with Smallworld GIS.

The exchange takes place via a simple, row-column-oriented format which can also be used to transfer graphic data. Differential transfer for detecting differences between Smallworld data and NEPLAN data is also possible, e.g. for deletions. Data from other sources can also be transferred via defined NEPLAN interfaces.

The product is fully configured for the Electricity, Gas and Water NRMs. Customisations can be made to meet special requirements.

The primary advantages are the avoidance of duplicate data capture and care, an improvement in data actuality in the network calculation and minimisation in the amount of work required during data capture for the network calculation.

The extensive operating resource databases from NEPLAN can continue to be used and maintained to their full extent.
