Operation Analyser
A reliable decision-making aid for day-to-day planning
The Operation Analyser analyses network conditions and allows simple calculations right there in the Smallworld GIS. Its strength comes in solving day-to-day problems without the need to carry out extensive calculations via an external piece of software.
The Operation Analyser determines whether certain changes to the network are possible. For example, it can be tested whether the voltage stability of a remote connection is guaranteed, whether an additional load is being borne by a particular point in the network or whether the transformer used has a high enough rating.
Power grid calculations
A new and robust calculation procedure is built into the power area, which especially supports functional assessment of networks and fast decision making. This allows the Operation Analyser to achieve a very high accuracy level in its calculations:
- Calculation of simple power flow
- Checking whether a new service connection is possible with a given load
- Short-circuit (symmetrical/asymmetrical)
- Integration of decentralised feeders
The results of the power-flow calculation are represented graphically and by way of shading. An extra detail view provides information on the power utilisation level, reduced load or power dissipation at the current cursor position. The integrated Excel export function prepares the calculation results in an optimised, configurable table format, including a screenshot.
Reliable GIS analyses
The Operation Analyser can be used for most GIS-based network analyses. Individual queries can be easily integrated and can be configured by the administrator to the degree required. Further customer-specific analyses and approximate calculations can be flexibly integrated. The results of the analyses are also displayed graphically, by shading, and embedded in Smallworld Explorer for further applications (filters , positioning, export, etc.).
Examples of power grid analyses:
- Analysis of all service connections supplied by a substation
- Identification of the substation which supplies a certain service connection
- Shading of electric circuits
Examples of gas and water analyses:
- Listing of all service connections
- Display the next possible cut-off possibility or closed gate valve
- Identification of the plant, which supplies a certain service connection
System requirements
- Smallworld GIS V4.0 and standard NRM modules for power, gas and/or water
- Regional or complete version of the overview map or detail map.
- For calculations in the power grid:
- The presence of loads or consumers is not a prerequisite. The Operation Analyser also works with estimated or configurable default load data.
- The topological connection of transformers to the low-voltage network is required for low-voltage calculations.
